NNJS Releases Eye Health Awareness Video 'Winsky' on the Occasion of World Sight Day
Kathmandu, Nepal: On the occasion of World Sight Day, Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh (NNJS) has released a new awareness video aimed at promoting eye health and encouraging people to take better care of their vision.
The awareness video has been produced by NNJS in collaboration with its development partner, Eye Care Foundation The Netherlands. The animated video is based on the children’s story featured in “WINSKY,” a book developed by Eye Care Foundation to make eye health information simple, engaging and accessible to children.
Through colorful animation and child-friendly storytelling, the video introduces children to the importance of healthy eyes and encourages them to understand their eyes, take care of their vision and have their eyes checked regularly.
World Sight Day is observed globally every year on the second Thursday of October to raise awareness about eye health and the importance of access to eye care. In 2026, World Sight Day will be observed on 8 October. The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) has announced that this year’s global campaign will focus on the power of people, community action and the importance of prioritising eye health.
Through this initiative, NNJS aims to make eye health education more engaging for children and families and encourage a culture of regular eye care and early attention to vision problems.
